We from the Ilha Grande Nautical Community present the project “ILHA GRANDE SAILING SCHOOL”

The project

We understand that it is essential to take actions that lead children and adolescents to participate in projects designed to create and maintain a healthier society, not only physically, but also psychologically, in order to grow citizens with good intellect, and offering them the ability to choose their future with better consciousness. Actions towards integration with other cultures, showing the concern with knowledge that aim to broaden the spectrum of vision of young people towards main events around the world.

We firmly believe that the sailing world encompass these actions and vision. However, the sailing world is still something intangible for all children and teenagers on the island. This is a reality we seek to change.

Nowadays in Ilha Grande there is only one resident that make the living professionally lin the world of sailing.

Motivations

The Ilha Grande Sailing School Project is a completely free initiative for children and teenagers, between 5 and 17 years old, whose pillars are:

Promotion of environmental education
Promotion of the practice of Olympic sailing and Ocean Sailing taking advantage of the natural, safe and healthy environments of Ilha Grande.
Use sailing skills as a tool to build healthy, upright and good-natured citizens.
Using sailing competitions as a tool for social integration with other locations, enabling our young people to participate in competitions throughout Brazil.
The training of professionals in the nautical environment.
Promote ecological knowledge and awareness.

More about the Project

Currently, approximately fifty children and teenagers between the ages of 4 and 17 are served by the following projects:
Ilha Grande Forest Scout Group and Ilha Grande VAA, which have come together to meet the social, sporting and educational needs of children and teenagers on the island.

The Ilha Grande Sailing School is an initiative that joins these projects, bringing nautical knowledge to these children
and teenagers..

Through the school and sailing activities, these children leave the danger of idleness to participate in the Project, receiving comprehensive care,
Keeping distance of social risks and occupying themselves with intellectually enriching activities

Starting with R$ 10,00 (ten brazilian reais) it is possible to help our school and even earn rewards such as a Polynesian canoe trip,
